Bettina's Take: Kate Somerville Skin Care and Clinic
Younger looking skin without surgery? That's great news for those of us who are squeamish about pain, or scared of what could happen (Vegas show girl face, anyone?) if we go under the knife.
I had heard that treatments at the Kate Somerville Clinic in Los Angeles were amazing, so I decided to go in for what turned out to be a relaxing and rejuvenating visit.
"Katie has been in the business for over 20 years," said Kate Somerville Skin Care CEO Michelle Taylor. "She began as a paramedical aesthetician in a plastic surgeon's office in her early 20's. As she continued to work in different plastic surgeons offices she was inspired and encouraged to go out on her own, to create products and start her own clinic. The clinic on Melrose place began about eight years ago. All of our products have been clinic developed, tested and proven because they're made for use in the clinic, and all of them are evaluated in the clinic by aestheticians."
Star products include Exfolicate, an enzyme and physical exfoliator in one, which gives you baby skin in two minutes, and DermalQuench liquid lift, which forces more oxygen into the skin and contains hyaluronic acid which fills in wrinkles.
I had the DermalQuench Oxygen Treatment, an hour long facial where I was gently sprayed with hyaluronic serum and vitamins. Oxygen was then applied to accelerate hydration, healing and conditioning. This was followed by light therapy. The result: fine lines disappeared, my skin was glowing and soft, and I was completely relaxed.
Somerville will be launching her product line at Bergdorf Goodman in New York on January 16th. She will be available for skin consultations between 2 and 4 PM, followed by a champagne reception.
New York is lucky to have her. She works wonders.
