Prabal Gurung Spring 2012: Pink Lips Make a Statement

Intoxicating pink lips on Prabal Gurung’s Spring 2012 runway
Bold pink pouts got extra edge at Prabal Gurung's Spring 2012 show.
Makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury darkened lips in the center—creating the illusion that models' mouths were open.
Though the playful pout was inspired by orchids, specifically photographer Nobuyoshi Araki’s images of exotic blooms, it actually reminded us of puckers stained by—don't judge—red wine.
But in order to keep it booze-free behind the scenes, Tilbury created the ombré-pink effect by blending shades of MAC Lipmiz outwards—starting with a black liner at the opening of the mouth—from deep purple to magenta to fuchsia.
“It’s like there is an intoxicating flower coming out of her mouth,” she said.
Guess intoxication is not needed to achieve a vino-drenched lip look.
