Max Osterweis and Erin Beatty, Suno, Swarovski Award for Womenswear

The line is named after Osterweis’s mother, who now lives on Kenya’s Lamu Island. The designer was inspired by kangas, traditional garment from the region, which bear messages like, “Watch your roosters, there’s a new hen in town!” Michelle Obama sported one of the label’s kangas in 2009, and since then Rachel McAdams and Chloe Moretz have also worn the colorful pieces. They also make some of the most fetching swimwear around.
