Keira Knightley Covers Marie Claire U.K., Talks Being ‘Worst Bridesmaid Ever’
sweet and sexy can coexist
She may call her style “boyish-chic,” but Keira Knightley is the picture of femininity for the October cover of Marie Claire U.K.
Of course, it helps when you have a closet full of Chanel at your disposal. The Coco Mademoiselle frontwoman models a selection of dreamy, retro-feeling dresses courtesy of Uncle Karl for her fashion spread, including an ivory cap-sleeved number she wears on the cover.
And although the Oscar-nominated actress swears she doesn’t swan around in corsets in real life, her chin-grazing, flapper-style bob is definitely straight out of a period piece.
Of course, how she got that bob is hardly the stuff of a Jane Austen novel.
“They had asked me to cut it for a movie and I said, ‘No, you can do it with a wig,’” she tells the magazine.
“But then I’d been thinking about cutting it so, you know, we had a glass of champagne and we were still talking about it, then another glass, and by the third glass, my hair was cut off ... But it’s so easy. Wash it. Go. Perfect.”
The British beauty also opens up about her first designer outfit (a black, Marilyn Monroe-esque Miu Miu dress that “requires tits that I don’t have”), her love for a man's shirt, and her recent stint as a bridesmaid for her brother’s wedding.
“It was wicked,” she says of her dress. “But I destroyed it by the end of the night. They had Indian food and I managed to drip every single curry, every single drink, down the front. I went to the toilet and caught it in the door. I was the worst bridesmaid ever. But it was a great night.”
