Environmental activist and supermodel Gisele Bündchen is in the process of building a $20 million, 22,000-square-foot Los Angeles mansion—a project that’s drawn some criticism from eco-activists for its supposed misguided attempts at being “green.”
“Of course, Bundchen felt the need (or the pressure, rather) to walk the talk when it came to reportedly outfitting her $20 million home castle with as many eco-friendly bells and whistles as possible,” wrote Mother Nature Network blogger Matt Hickman of the Versace face’s home.
The Brentwood, California, mega-mansion will reportedly utilize solar panels, energy-efficient appliances and lighting, rainwater recycling and sustainable building materials—but will also have a six-car garage, an elevator, eight bedrooms, a wine cellar, a home gym (perfect for hubby/Patriots quarterback Tom Brady), and other not-so-earth-friendly additions like "enough water features to make Celine Dion drool at the mouth," Hickman writes.
“I’ll say this much: at least she tried,” the Mother Nature blogger concludes.
Ironically, the Brazilian beauty was recently named the Best Green International Celebrity at the Green Awards in London last month.
