Madonna in Givenchy Haute Couture
It was a cliffhanger of a game—in case you missed it: the New York Giants won!—but for some viewers (read: us) , the Super Bowl was slightly less about football and slightly more about Madonna.
The Queen of Pop didn’t disappoint with her halftime show, from the set list (“Vogue,” “Music,” and “Like A Prayer,” plus her new single, “Give Me All Your Luvin”) to her Givenchy Haute Couture wardrobe. Madonna started her performance in a hand-embroidered gold cape, followed by a black silk cady minidress with a show-stopping python studded and embroidered belt. She finished the show in a dramatic black silk cady coat hand-embroidered with black rectangular sequins and micro pearls.
On the accessories front? Thigh-high Miu Miu boots, Bulgari earrings, and a Philip Treacy hat.

Nicki Minaj and M.I.A. in custom Fausto Puglisi with Madonna
“Following my collaboration with Madonna on her last tour three years ago, it is a great honor for me to be a part of yet another historical and iconic moment,” Givenchy designer Riccardo Tisci said in a statement. “People say everything has a limit, but limits do not exist with Madonna. I am so happy that, after being busy in other scenes, she decided to go back on a music stage. Not only to bring us music, but also to make such a statement of performance and fashion.”
Of course, Madge wasn’t the only one making a fashion statement on the stage. M.I.A. and Nicki Minaj, who both are featured in “Give Me All Your Luvin,” wore custom Fausto Puglisi ensembles and David Webb jewelry.
Who said fashion and football couldn’t coexist?
