Robert Duffy vs. Former Marc Jacobs CFO - The Feud Heats Up
Patrice Lataillade, the former Marc Jacobs International chief financial officer and chief operating officer is currently locked in a legal battle with the company, and isn’t going down without a fight.
Lataillade originally sued the Marc Jacobs International’s president, Robert Duffy, in March, saying that he was wrongfully fired after complaining about the “discriminatory environment” at the company. Marc Jacobs, the brand, followed up with a counterclaim, alleging that Lataillade was actually dismissed because he overstated the company’s financial figures in order to award himself bonuses.
The latest? Lataillade has now filed complaints with his lawyers saying that instead of a response from Marc Jacobs International and Louis Vuitton Moet Hennesy, Lataillade wants to hear it from Duffy himself.
According to LVMH, he shouldn’t count on it. “The filing focuses on a purely technical matter and is simply an attempt to deflect attention from the facts concerning the serious financial manipulations of Patrice Lataillade, which were the sole reason he was terminated by Marc Jacobs,” said a spokesperson for LVMH, reports to Women’s Wear Daily.
“Our position is this is a further retaliation and they are trying to attack Mr. Lataillade rather than deal with the environment they let Robert Duffy create,” said Anne Vladeck, one of the former's lawyers.
One thing’s for sure: This fight’s far from over.
