CFDA Partnering with LF USA
Waiting with bated breath until the next big designer collaboration? It may come sooner than you think.
The CFDA has inked a deal with LF USA, a branch of manufacturing giant Li & Fung, Women’s Wear Daily reports.
While specific projects are yet to be divulged, the partnership is intended to create opportunities for CFDA members—and with the production capabilities of LF USA, we’re expecting some serious capsule collections and collaborations in store for brands whose own manufacturing faculties are on the smaller side.
(LF produces Vera Wang’s line for Kohl’s; the Matthew Williamson, Karl Lagerfeld, and Giambattista Valli lines for Macy’s; as well as Rachel Zoe’s collection.)
“The idea of working with LF USA and bringing design close to manufacturing is a perfect statement of how the industry needs to operate,” CFDA CEO Steven Kolb told WWD.
“We thought there was no better way of being really able to access the top level of creativity in the market than teaming up with the CFDA,” said Rick Darling, LF’s president. “Our retail partners are very excited about the access to the broad range of talent the CFDA represents, and how it can be used to target and develop brands and businesses that address their white space.”
