John Galliano: Dior Suspension Totally Disproportionate
John Galliano isn't taking his suspension from Dior lightly.
The embattled designer's lawyer, Stephane Zerbib, has told the AP that his client is "totally surprised" by the fashion house's decision to suspend him following the alleged assault and anti-Semitic comments by Galliano at a Paris restaurant.
"[The suspension is] totally disproportionate," Zerbib says. "He is presumed innocent.
"He never made an anti-Semitic remark in more than 10 years at Dior. He was insulted, and he responded to the insults."
Galliano is said to have engaged in a war of words with a couple at a Parisian bar, where police sources have said he was intoxicated.
Though Dior has yet to comment on their plans for what could be Galliano's final collection for them on March 4, some insiders are speculating that the label may be using this as an excuse to part ways with the controversial designer. Could those YSL/Stefano Pilati rumors have been about Dior?
One thing is clear, however: Between Dior's upcoming show on March 4, and that of his eponymous label slated for March 6, all eyes will definitely be on Paris Fashion Week.
