Diane von Furstenberg took her runway walk at the finale of her show to the tune of “Feeling Good,” handing out mini American flags to front-row guests like Valentino Garavani, Oscar de la Renta, and Carine Roitfeld. It was indeed a feel-good moment: a cheery cap on a cheery collection that was pure DVF.
The show opened with a fresh start: a white cotton shirtdress, easy and breezy, segueing into equally summery white separates in gauzy fabrics. It wouldn't be DVF without some color, but they were mostly muted shades of turquoise, brown, and mint, with the exception of a bright coral, one-shouldered gown destined to be a hot seller come spring.
As is quickly becoming a trend this week, prints were layered on more prints, and von Furstenberg's didn't disappoint, like a Hawaiian-esque botanical and a more graphic, poppy floral mixed with more subtle eyelets and textured fabrics.
If there was no discernible theme, the show didn't suffer for it. Von Furstenberg simply presented a collection of all the things she does best: separates in classic silhouettes, a lineup of great, comfortable, all-occasion dresses, and enough sparkle—like some sequined, flouncy dresses at the end of the show—to put a smile on everyone's faces as they left the tents.
