Viktor & Rolf Diss Kate Middleton’s Hair and Makeup

They’ve certainly changed their tune!

On April 29, the day of the Royal Wedding, Dutch design duo Viktor & Rolf had nothing but praise for the new Duchess of Cambridge.

“Kate’s dress was simply elegant,” Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren told Women's Wear Daily. “Her hair down was a beautiful and natural touch, and the tiara was stunning. She looked as at-ease as humanly possible and was radiant. Our compliments.”

And now?

“[She needs] different makeup and hair,” Rolf tells Grazia U.K. in a new video interview when asked what they would like to see Catherine wear.

Specifically, the designers think the royal, who does her own makeup, needs “less eyeliner” and “less hair.”

“It would bring out her natural beauty in a much better way," Rolf adds.

Ouch! Later, when the twosome are handed a trio of photographs—one of Middleton, one of a peacock, and one of a tulip field—and asked which image they'd use to inspire a new fragrance, they snub her in favor of the peacock.

That’s cool, guys. She's already got her own scent anyway.

Meanwhile, see which other designer isn't afraid to speak his mind.
